A community-shaped plan for the future of our foreshore
The Lake Kununurra Foreshore is one of Kununurra’s greatest natural assets and a defining part of what makes living here special. The goal is not to overdevelop it, but to make it safer and more accessible for the community while protecting its natural character and cultural significance.
Through Kununurra Reimagined, the community has already shared strong ideas about how this can be achieved.

We are developing a plan that includes:

Safer, more usable spaces at Swim Beach

Improved walking and cycling trails along the water

Upgrades to key areas like Celebrity Tree Park and Lily Lagoon

Shaded rest areas, shelters and gathering spaces

Opportunities for cultural storytelling and public art
Where are we now?
We are currently consulting with the community to complete the Masterplan for the Kununurra Foreshore.

We are now working together to turn those ideas into a clear, deliverable plan.
The Lake Kununurra Foreshore Masterplan is still being developed – and community input continues to shape its direction.
A staged approach to delivery

Completed (2025) A 12-month community engagement and consultation program informed the development of the Town Centre Masterplan.

Now (March - May 2026) Draft foreshore masterplans and preliminary concepts developed Community engagement on early ideas

Next (June - July 2026) Refining designs, testing priorities and developing business cases. Further community engagement and workshops

Finalisation (by August 2026) Lake Kununurra Foreshore Masterplan, development strategy and supporting plans completed
